Christmas Tree Train Set
A Christmas tree train set is a wonderful family tradition that you can pass down from generation to generation. Watching a train go around the tree is captivating for old and young alike.
Lots of adults had train sets when they were younger and it brings back many cherished childhood memories that they want to share with their new family.
A fine train around the tree is just as important as lights, tinsel, and ornaments, and looks amazing when the lights are dimmed. Each year when I put up my tree I turn off all the lights and just let the tree light the house, it’s simply beautiful.
First if you don’t mind let me give you a little mini history about the Christmas tree train set. It didn’t start out as a Christmas train set at all, it was much different.
Believe it or not the train in question wasn’t for sale it was built as a storefront display to bring customers into the store to buy goods, but folks were amazed with a train that moved and wanted to buy it. This train the “Electric Express” was built by Joshua Lionel Cowan who in part with Harry C. Grant formed the soon to be famous Lionel Corporation.
Now Cowan didn’t invent the model train but after World War II his company started asking stores to place the trains around Christmas tree displays which linked the two together; it was smart marketing on his part, they go together beautifully and a new tradition was started. The model trains were very expensive so parents saved them for Christmas presents and placed them around the tree.
Perhaps you are new to Christmas train sets and would like to start a new family tradition; well this year is the perfect time.
